How Far Have You Trekked?

NOTE: WHEN YOU WALK< HIKE< OR BIKE WITH YOUR FAMILY YOU CAN REPORT THEIR MILES TOO AS FAR AS THEY WALK WITH YOU!!! Here is a list of different activities and the amount of miles they are worth. Walking - measure in miles if you can. Or 1hour = 4miles, 1/2 hour = 2miles
Swimming - in a 25 yard pool you'd need to swim 72 lengths to make a mile or 5,280 feet. Give us your best estimate.
Aerobic dance - You can burn more calories than walking on this one depending on the intensity so we'll just give it this value unless you calculate it more specifically. 1 hour = 5 miles
Strength Training could probably be counted the same. 1 hour = 5 miles
Tennis - keep track of time. It's probably close to aerobic dance depending on the intensity
Biking - Keep track of distance if possible or it is about the same as running when you go by time.
Running - I think is about double the walking if you go by time.
Other - Take your best guess.

We'll take your word for it. Report your miles OR give us the duration and type of exercise you did...include the intensity level (moderate or intense) and we'll change it into miles for you.

  5. So far, as of Sunday night, March 13th we have 104 miles reported to the blog! Thanks to all of you who are keeping track and sharing your miles. Debbie, Connie and Jen: If anyone reports miles to you add it to our miles here on the blog, ok? We are putting them all together, end to end to make our virtual trek from Liverpool to SLC. We are well on our way!

  6. Oh...I'm forgetting to remind everyone. If you go hiking or walking or biking with your family you can report their miles too...as far as they went with you. So when I went hiking with my family at Zion's this weekend I can count their miles too. We hiked for five miles...times 5 that's 25 miles! I already reported mine so I'll just add their 20.

  8. I am doing P90X. I joined this site to keep me motivated. If I have to report to someone than hopefully I won't quit. They say you have to write things down to keep your goals. So far I have done 10 days. P90X is a mixture of cardio, strength training, abs, yoga, kenpo and stretching. I don't love it yet, but it feels great to get the endorphins when I am done.

  9. You are SO right Susan! Welcome! And welcome to all of you who have been reporting your exercise! This is wonderful! Susan, your P90X sounds like fun...and hard! If your workout is about an hour a day I'd count that as 5 miles/day for our virtual trek...if you go longer...like an hour and a half-- then it would probably count as 8 miles a day. I'll just put you down for 80 miles for the ten days you've done so far...I'm sure you've worked that hard!
Keep up the good work everyone! Keep on trekkin!
